I am a visual artist who lives & works in Qatar, my primary interest is photography and I love using my computer to add a graphic touch to my photos. Since I was a kid I always have been fascinated by cameras and new technologies. With the revolution of photography in our part of the world back in 2006 it was the perfect opportunity for me to work on my photography skills in different social media platforms over the years starting from Flickr reaching out to Instagram in our days. Recently I have been experimenting different forms of mixed media where I mix my photography with random colorful abstract shapes, in addition to that I love to incorporate calligraphy specifically Arabic type face using adobe Photoshop to express a certain idea or topic. I would like to take my experiments few steps further in my postgraduate studies where I move my digital art work from our phones and computer screens to an actual digital art installation. Furthermore, I would like to work on my identity as an artist and have the right mentorship to create my signature style.

In my postgraduate study, I want to use my art as a tool to explore Qatar specifically, the region generally and its social characteristics. The themes that interests me are language, food, fashion and travelling and how social media plays an important role in setting trends in our region, and pushing the boundaries to make people tend to try new things they have never tried before. Previously it was mainly word of mouth and what comes through media but currently social media is in control of shaping and influencing a lot of social trends, and how different people share their different experiences instantly no matter in which part of the world they were with others made it more accessible for the community to be part of these trends. Being a conservative society which is keen on maintaining traditions juxtaposed with this accessibility is my main area of focus.

Photography and mixed media as well as working with popular images and colors using Photoshop will be my main methods in exploring my area of interest. Through capturing different moments and adding my personal feelings, thoughts and touches using mixed media tools I will be creating my form of art and will discuss those social issues that interest me, in a colorful and appealing art pieces. I am curious in exploring new different forms of media in my work. I would like to create Interactive art installations where visitors will not only be observers, instead they can interact and participate in my art work which will create a sense of curiosity and belonging between the visitors and the installation. In order to make art more accessible I want to create pieces that will not only be displayed in galleries and museums, but also can be part of locations that public visits as part of their everyday life such as restaurants, shopping malls, parks and festivals.
